Plastic components

Plastic components have long been the norm in many applications – and for good reason. They are often cost-effective to manufacture, corrosion-resistant and offer a high degree of design freedom. This is precisely what makes them so attractive for modern engineering.

Added to this are properties that matter in practice: good damping, smooth running and – depending on the material – excellent resistance to chemicals and moisture. This noticeably increases the longevity of many systems.

And because plastic components can be designed so flexibly, you’ll find them in almost every sector: from automotive and medical technology to the food and packaging industries.

  • Cost-effective manufacturing
  • High corrosion and media resistance
  • Great design freedom

Adavantages and materials

A major advantage is the reduced weight – this lowers energy requirements and improves the dynamics of machines. At the same time, many plastic components can be designed in such a way that they reduce or even replace the need for lubrication.

Materials such as polyethylene and polypropylene are widely used. For more demanding applications, engineering plastics and high-performance plastics are employed – each suited to the specific temperature, load and environmental conditions.

  • Reduced weight
  • More efficient performance through optimised friction coefficients
  • Wide selection of materials ranging from standard to high-performance

Application examples

In the automotive industry, plastic components help to reduce weight and improve efficiency. In electronics, they enable compact, insulated designs. And in medical technology, they offer hygiene, durability and precision.

  • Weight reduction and efficiency in the automotive sector
  • Compact designs and insulation functions in electronics
  • Hygienic, precise applications in medical technology
