Tensioning Systems for Roller Chains Make Machines More Durable, Reliable, and Quiet

Roller chains are critical wear components in many machines and systems. For long-lasting, trouble-free operation, our chain tensioners reliably keep the chains under tension using spring force.

Learn more about our proven chain tensioning systems, made from the Original "S"® green, Made in Germany — the original from the inventor.

The advantages at a glance

  • Smoother and quieter chain operation
  • Adjustment possibility when needed

  • Automatic compensation of chain elongation
  • Used as a chain guard

Drive Arrangements and Mounting Positions of Our Tensioning Systems

We offer various tensioning systems for almost every drive arrangement and installation situation. Our response to individual requests: We develop custom models. Tailored in detail to your needs.

Drive arrangement in free space

Chain tensioner with arc profile. Ideal installation situation in empty space just behind the drive wheel. Here combined with sliding rails.

Installation with deflection profile

Spann-Box® with deflection profile, resulting in double the length of the tensioning path, installation situation 1

Installation with deflection profile

Tension-Box® with deflection profile, resulting in double the length of the tensioning path, installation situation 2

Installation with double deflection

Omega tensioning station for demanding tensioning situations with particularly long chain strands. Double deflection.

Side installation

For space constraints below the chain, Spann-Boy® for side mounting.

Reversing operation

Many of our tensioning systems are suitable for reversible operation.

Particularly high temperatures, chemical and corrosion resistance

Our standard version in Original "S"® green® is suitable for use in temperature ranges from -40°C to 60°C. With the right choice of plastic, stainless steel springs and stainless steel housing, temperatures from -40°C to 200°C are possible. By selecting suitable materials for the sliding profile and housing, our Spann-Box® range also offers the option of chemical resistance and corrosion resistance.

THE PERFECT COMBINATION

TENSIONING AND GUIDING

We recommend using guides in combination with a chain tensioner, as this increases the lifespan of the chains. MURTFELDT's chain guides are designed for low-friction movements in systems and machines. They are characterized by high wear resistance and excellent sliding properties.
