In the world of logistics, reliable transfer lines are of critical importance. These systems must deliver top performance under constant load, with the chains and belts built into the machines playing a key role in ensuring overall efficiency.
One of the world’s leading online retailers faced a serious wear issue in one of its high-frequency logistics warehouses. The service life of the chains was only four to six weeks, leading to significant disruptions in operations. With our expertise in high-performance technical materials and holistic solutions, we conducted an on-site evaluation, provided consultation, and implemented targeted improvements.
The excessive mechanical wear, which ultimately led to chain failure, was traced back to manual alignment and tensioning. This most likely caused overload and misalignment of the chain on the sprockets.
To stop the rapid and severe chain wear, we tested the Spann-Box® model Spann-Boy® TS with curved profile, designed for 08B-2 type chains (Duplex 1⁄2“ x 5/16“). As part of the MURTFELDT ORIGINALS range, our clamping systems featuring the Original "S"® deliver an unbeatable combination of sliding performance, wear resistance, and durability.
After a free sample batch of our clamping boxes was successfully put into operation, we delivered additional units — and were able to effectively stop the chain wear. A clear sign of the effectiveness of our solution was the fact that the original service life of the chains was already exceeded during the test period of our Spann-Box® units — and they are still running.
Our solution not only increased productivity but also reduced costs and optimised operational efficiency, helping our customer set new standards for the stability of their transfer lines.
