CFRP Screws: Hybrid Solutions for Higher Performance
Requirements in the manufacturing industry are continuously increasing. That’s why we need screw systems that are more dynamic yet more stable. Traditional metal reinforcements are no longer sufficient — we solve this challenge with carbon fibre reinforcements.

"Never change a runnning system" ...or maybe you should?
The demands placed on materials in the manufacturing industry are constantly increasing and require higher dynamics and corresponding stability from screw systems. Conventional metal reinforcements are reaching their limits, especially in screw systems in the filling and conveying industry.
At MURTFELDT, we have addressed this challenge. Conventional plastic screws no longer meet the requirements. This leads to a deterioration in concentricity, increased vibration and potential effects on the production process.

Our Solution:
A hybrid concept that replaces conventional metal reinforcements with a version made of carbon fibre-reinforced material (CFRP). This innovative combination of tribologically optimised thermoplastic and fibre composite reinforcement enables increased stiffness while achieving weight savings of up to 78%.
The results speak for themselves: a simultaneous improvement in concentricity of approx. 20% and optimised operability under increased requirements. This meets the growing demands on production performance and output and enables optimum operational reliability.
The outlook: Further optimisations are planned to reduce weight, increase rigidity and simplify assembly processes. The hybrid design promises a promising future for the industrial application of screw conveyor systems.
