Sustainability comes from responsibility and solidarity

As a family business, we stand for an open and tolerant culture. We take responsibility – for our employees, our region and society.

We are convinced that genuine, sustainable cohesion can only be achieved when everyone is included and treated fairly. This is what we work towards every day. Not only in relation to our employees, but also towards our customers, partners, suppliers, service providers and all other people with whom we come into contact on a daily basis.

“We want to offer our employees the best possible development and career opportunities with a comprehensive range of benefits. This is the only way to ensure that MURTFELDT remains attractive and successful in the long term.”

Employee development, training and further education

To enable our employees to develop in this way, we do not rely solely on individual commitment. We offer a wide range of measures that specifically promote their skills so that they can grow both professionally and privately.

Career management

Regular orientation meetings are held with all employees to establish clear goals and expectations for both sides. Together, we identify strengths and potential.

Apprenticeship

When it comes to skills shortages and qualified young talent, we take our destiny into our own hands. We have been offering apprenticeships in various fields for decades.

Studying alongside work

We support employees who wish to continue their education alongside their work with us in the form of part-time studies.

Internal training

We regularly hold training courses on our internal products and applications, such as safety, materials and manufacturing technology training courses.

External training

Our employees have access to a wide range of external training courses and corporate networks, e.g. “NIRO” or “Maschinenraum”.

Diversity & inclusion

Behind every idea, every product and every service are diverse teams and people. In companies like ours, they work together every day on everything that moves us forward.

The economy and competition have become so complex and challenging that we need to tackle them with a broad spectrum of expertise, perspectives and experience. Our diversity team, elected by our employees, stands for diversity in action and promotes respectful coexistence for all employees. In addition, we support the ZONTA Club Dortmund and are a founding member of Made by Vielfalt e.V. in order to stand up for fundamental democratic values as a family business.

Humans x Technology

State-of-the-art technology and well-designed processes make everyday work easier and prevent health problems. Our tugger train delivers the required materials to the workstations with pinpoint accuracy, saving walking distances.

Our wide range of personal protective equipment ensures maximum protection: whether gloves, prescription safety glasses or ear defenders – thanks to our goods issue system, everyone can stock up conveniently and according to their needs.

A highly automated semi-finished goods warehouse ensures a smooth flow of materials. Heavy components are moved to the machines using cranes to protect backs and joints.

Health, mobility, sport

Moving. Together.

From preventive measures such as vaccinations and eye tests during working hours, to subsidies for the Deutschlandticket and Wellpass, to bike leasing and charging stations on company premises, the well-being of our employees is close to our hearts.

Sweating. Together.

Getting active together strengthens our team spirit. That's why we regularly take part in various events. Maybe we'll see you this year at the B2Run, the AOK Run, the dragon boat race or the Dortmund Half Marathon?

Social responsibility

Our social commitment to society is multifaceted. The common denominator is that we want to empower people, associations and initiatives – financially, materially and ideologically. Most of the projects realised with our help have an impact in the Dortmund region, but we are also active internationally on a regular basis.

Help for Hospital Construction and Emergeny Aid in Ghana e.V.

With a donation, we were able to facilitate the delivery of a container with medical devices and other equipment to Ghana.

Christmas wish tree

Every year, we fulfil children's wishes that the Centre for Deaf Culture Association brings us in the form of Christmas tree decorations.

MURTFELDT Cup

A football tournament for F, E and D youth teams in Dortmund's Nordstadt district, which has become a highlight for children and young people from all over North Rhine-Westphalia.

Cooperation with the Konzerthaus Dortmund

We have been supporting the Dortmund Concert Hall for many years, and from 2025 we will even be one of its main sponsors. Our commitment is intended to promote interaction and demonstrate responsibility for the city and society.

MURTFELDT x Get racing

We have been a proud sponsor of this fantastic project for several years now: every year, the GET racing Dortmund team demonstrates its innovative strength, passion and teamwork. We are always impressed by the amount of energy and commitment the students put into this project alongside their already demanding studies. It is precisely this pioneering spirit that makes GET racing so special to us.

For several years now, we have been providing key racing car components in addition to funding. We support the young engineers in optimising their designs for production and manufacture the parts together with the students.

Sustainability Report 2025/26

A sustainability report is an important step in demonstrating what we are already doing. We want to be completely transparent, seek external feedback, encourage dialogue and inspire other stakeholders.
