Tailgate Made of Fibre-Reinforced Material
Custom one-piece tailgate made of glass fibre-reinforced material for a fire department service vehicle

We developed and manufactured a one-piece tailgate made of glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) for a special fire brigade vehicle. While the series vehicle was originally equipped with a double-wing tailgate, the end user – the fire brigade – wanted a more practical solution for medical care operations at accident sites.
When unfolded, the new upward-opening tailgate serves as a protective roof, creating a covered, weather-protected area for outpatient first aid. At the same time, access to the medical equipment inside the vehicle remains completely unimpeded – even in rain or difficult weather conditions.
The double-shell component is manufactured using a GRP laminate process and is available in two versions: with and without a cut-out for a rear window. It is painted in the vehicle colour for the best possible integration into the vehicle design. Thanks to its low weight, the tailgate can be opened and closed quickly and effortlessly – an important factor for efficient use under time pressure. The high dimensional accuracy and quality of the component guarantee reliable function in daily use.
Your advantages:
- Lightweight construction for quick opening and closing
