Our recipe for success!
PLASTIC SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS – MADE IN GERMANY FOR OVER 60 YEARS
Plastic semi-finished products
Our extensive selection of semi-finished products made from engineering plastics and high-performance plastics – PE, PA, POM and PET (PETP) – ensures the optimal material for every application.
Ever since the 1950s, our Original Material “S”® has been known for its wide range of uses in drive and conveyor technology. We have worked continuously on the development of our Murtfeldt PE plastics over the years. As a result, we are now in a position to respond to the individual requirements of our customers. The advantages of semi-finished products made from Murtfeldt plastics are no longer limited to their excellent chemical resistance, optimal impact resistance and light weight. Whether they are wear-optimised, slide-optimised for POM or metals, heat-stabilised, antimicrobial, metal-detectable, food safe, antistatic, or electrically conductive, Murtfeldt’s highly specialised range of engineering plastics and high-performance plastics always offers precisely the properties you need for your project.

Engineering plastics and high-performance plastics
PA – polyamide
Polyamides (PAs) are semi-crystalline, linear polymers with good mechanical properties and good chemical resistance to organic solvents. However, they can be easily attacked by acids and oxidising chemicals.
Polyamides (PAs) are often used as a structural material because of their outstanding strength and toughness, as well as their excellent sliding behaviour.
Murtfeldt uses these thermoplastics to produce custom finished parts for machine construction and plant engineering.
PE – polyethylene
Polyethylene (PE) is a semi-crystalline, non-polar thermoplastic. Polyethylenes are differentiated by their respective molar mass (molecular weight), which determines the physical properties of each type of polyethylene.
They are characterised by high chemical resistance, good electrical insulation properties and good sliding behaviour.
However, mechanical properties are only excellent for PE-UHMW, the type used by Murtfeldt. Because of its properties, this type of polyethylene is an excellent technical material for use in mechanical engineering.
POM – polyoxymethylene
Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a semi-crystalline, high molecular weight thermoplastic that is characterised by high rigidity, low coefficients of friction, and excellent dimensional and thermal stability.
The special features of this polymer, which can even replace metal in many cases, are its high toughness at temperatures of down to -40°C, high abrasion resistance, low coefficient of friction, high heat resistance, good slide properties, good electrical and dielectric properties, and minimal water absorption.
Murtfeldt uses this high-performance plastic wherever strong resistance is needed and exceptional requirements have to be met.
PET – polyethylene terephthalate
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET / PETP) is a thermoplastic, semi-crystalline, non-reinforced polymer with very high dimensional stability and is particularly notable for its excellent wear resistance and low coefficient of sliding friction.
Other features of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) include its resistance to mildly acidic solutions and high strength.
