Outstanding performance in the R.A.C.E. project
Murlock demonstrated its innovative strength in a particularly impressive way as part of the R.A.C.E. (Reaction Application for Composite Evolution) project. This project, led by Hennecke, brought together eight top partners from the industry to develop a pioneering process chain for the production of complex fiber composite hollow components. The central demonstration object was a motorcycle license plate holder for the KTM 1290 Superduke R made of carbon fiber composite material. While the conventional design weighs 765 grams, Project R.A.C.E. enabled a weight saving of over 60 percent to just 265 grams - with a simultaneous increase in performance.
Murlock played a crucial role in this project by providing a sealing solution that can withstand the extreme demands of High-Pressure Resin Transfer Molding (HP-RTM). The innovative seal remains permanently stable even at internal molding pressures of up to 200 bar and resists residues of resins and carbon fibers.
